Just part of growing up. Generally speaking, if you aren't a liberal at age 18, you have no heart. If you aren't a conservative by age 30, though, you have no brain. (Some of our younger members here have obviously matured earlier than average, of course.)

This lack of maturity in liberals is well demonstrated by their continuing belief in Santa Claus and his elves, though they have begun referring to them as the Federal Government.
