This morning I was listening to Eric Shelton's "Handgun Podcast (http://handgunpodcast.com/)" and he mentioned this story about Mayor Gavin of SanFranFreaskshow. The Mayor slammed the NRA and its members with these unacceptable comments.

I sent the dear Mayor an email this morning...

Dear Sir,
I cannot understand why an educated man like yourself would stoop so low as to lie about honest citizens in the way that you did when speaking about the NRA and its members. You sir are not an honorable man. You want to blame the NRA (and its members) for the triple murder in your city, yet say nothing of the fact that the murderer was not an NRA member, not even a citizen of the U.S., was already a known criminal and a gang member.

I say, sir, that you are to blame here. You will not allow the honest citizens, like the ones murdered, to exercise their right to self defense! You sir are to blame for that family being killed, you are to blame for any illegal alien running the streets killing as they please. You sir are to blame for not allowing your citizenry the God given, and constitutionally given right to protect themselves.

You attacked the NRA and its members, you attacked me. I thank God I don’t live in a city with dishonest leadership and a Marxist strangle-hold on honest citizens.

You can bet that as long as you do not allow honest people to defend themselves against crooks, thieves and gangs, you will have more of this kind of murder, and you will be to blame every time. You will be to blame every time a man cannot defend his wife against a rapist attack, you will be to blame every time a father cannot defend his child against a kidnapping pedophile. You will be to blame every time a mother cannot defend herself and her baby against a car jacking. You sir will be to blame, NOT me. I AM THE NRA and we defend our families.

Ken, the nickname my buddy gave to The Gav, may just hoist himself on his own petard. He's running for governor but Jerry "moonbeam" Brown is leading in the polls. Term limits means that if Ken doesn't win, he'll have to go for another seat. He isn't strong enough to take on Boxer, Pelosi or Feinstein either. Becoming a state assembly critter or state senator could be seen as a step down (but it could be a launch pad too). Hopefully Ken and his San Francisco values are washed out. BTW, Ken just married a Barbie in Montana.

You are quite correct that you posted a rant. I do suggest you consider being a bit less confrontational in your approach, - WITHOUT - lessening your message. Let me provide a few possibilities.

I am writing you after watching several of your statements about the most unfortunate assassination of three of your citizens by illegal aliens. In your statements you take the National Rifle Association (NRA) to task for perpetuation of those assassinations. Please help me understand how an organization, such as the NRA, can suddenly be held accountable for actions of illegal aliens that are - not - NRA members. Has your staff so totally mis-informed you on the issue that your emotions got the best of you or is it that your words are from a deep seated prejudice?

Isn't it possible that the blame lies not with NRA members who exercise their Constitutional Rights by owning and safely using firearms, but rather with those that do not help enforce our laws, and thus allow illegals to run amok on our City's streets committing mayhem as they please? Rather than denigrating peaceful and law abiding citizens who are NRA members, wouldn't it be far more productive to spend time and effort in resolution of your City's crime problems? Why attack those that choose to exercise their Constitutional Rights to own firearms?

I would hope you understand that to attack the NRA you are, in effect, displaying significant prejudice AND doing your best to alienate virtually all NRA members, nation wide. If this is inadvertent, then I hope you can see your way clear to issue statements that allow the NRA members to understand what you really intended. If you did, in fact, intend to attack NRA members, then I believe you will find there are a large number of people that voted for you last time that will find someone else to vote for in the next election.

Let us hope that this type of assassination will be forever ended. That is far from likely when the only people that have firearms are the criminal element. Please see your way clear to not just allow peaceful citizens to own and safely use those arms, but in fact encourage those that care to own firearms, to do so. Think about the slight of build female that would not be subjected to rape. Think about the mother and her child that would not be subjected to car-jacking. Think about the fact that over 90% of successful self defense uses of firearms are never even reported, because no one was hurt. MILLIONS of times each and every year, people defend themselves using guns, without hurting anyone. What is so offensive about that?

Please remember, I AM THE NRA - and I VOTE! When you attack the NRA, you attack me. I then get even with the ballot, and I'm not alone.
