Information needed on the 9mm Shotgun

I am in a position to purchase a 9mm Rimfire shotgun, and I am wondering if anyone has experience with one. It is a bolt action, smooth bore, German mfg. that I intend to use around the house. They were originally built for a "garden gun", small birds, snakes, etc I believe.

One question I have is how powerful are they? Can I shoot and kill a mouse at 20 feet? Will they penetrate 1/2 inch plywood (squirrels in the attic)? Are they loud? Does it have the legs to break a clay at stations 1 and 7 on the skeet field?

I will probably buy a selection of 6 and 9 shot from Fiocchi. With 50 shells costing about $20, they are comparable to .410 loads in cost.

Thanks,

This should help.

If you do get the gun, I would strongly suggest you stock up on Fiocchi ammo.
I look for it to become extinct at some point in the future. At least in the U.S.A.

I mean, how many of these things can there be still being shot that much?

Advantage was low noise, recoil and limited range. Literally a mouse gun.

Thanks RCMODEL, that was a good link. It seems like you like the 9mm Rimfire. I will probably get the shotgun. and order a few boxes from Midway, they have the 6's and 9's in stock. I would like some of the paper cartridges, just don't want to pay that much for them. It will get some strange looks on the skeet field, but I will see what it will do.

Ok one more question. Hopfully RCMODEL has an answer:confused:

Is the Fiocchi 9mm flobert the same as the 9mm Rimfire shotshell? I can't find the word Flobert on the Fiocchi site. What I did find, was this shot gun chambered for it.

Now, bad news is I just spent my allocated funds on a bolt gun for a few dollars less. But this may be out there for a while, and the opportunity may present itself again.

Good news is that this looks to be new manufacture, but I can't find a website for the company to check if it is still in their catalog.

Edit: I found the maker: http://www.bernardelli.com/main_rifles.htm If you visit the site, look under rifles for the shotguns (must be a European thing, they list pistols and rifles with shotguns buried in with the rifles, I assume they meant long guns.)

I know these requests are way out of the mainstream, and I appreciate the assistance.
