Not really, 500 is the longest I get to shoot on a regular basis. I would love to find a 1000 yard range close, that didn't cost $35 an hour to shoot at.

I shoot at 600 yards pretty regularly..... if that is considered long range.
I have a Remington 700 pss in .308 with night force 12x42x56 shooting 175 gr sierra bthp.
I would love to try 1000 yrds someday.

i have a range at our farm that can reach 2500 yds. i cannot shoot that far, but one must have goals. for now i am concentrating on a 1000 yrd deer shot. shooting a .346 MOA m700 in 7mmRM, 4-12x40 Luppie.

Try www.long-range.com. National Match Shooting is also a great site

if you're near east/middle-TN, you're welcome to come shoot with me at three different 1000 yrd ranges.
however, if you use search here, you'll find I'm not shy about telling people that shooting game at 1000 yrds is profoundly poor sportsmanship and unethical.
edit: btw, you should take the course coming up in september offered in the training forum at http://longrangeinternational.com/forum/index.php?sid=3897bbf29bb1b5093d82145a5894c1cf

I have two 1,000 yard ranges within 2.5 hours of me. One is only an hour away and the other is NRA Whittington.
I am one lucky SOB.

You can contact the Pascagoula Police Dept. in Mississippi and ask someone there because they have 1000 yard competitions. I`m not sure but I think that the NRA is involved in some of them. You can also contact one of the guys listed on the High Master Riflemen website that ia in conjunction with the NRA. Hope this helps.

"...on a 1000 yrd deer shot..." Don't even think about it. Not enough energy with any bullet weight out of a 7mm Mag for a clean kill. Hitting targets at that distance isn't the same as killing.
"...if that is considered long range..." It's a friggin' long way, but not a hunting shot distance. Medium range for .308 target shooting. Mind you, short range for target shooting is 300 yards. Go shoot NRA matches.

welcome to thr.
i don't get to do much long range work i really wish that i could. the hardest part is fining a range that will allow me to do so. the local ranges only go out to 200yds. in the army we shoot out to 300 for qual but i don't consider that long range either, and there is no precsion in it.
if i had a facility that i could get out to 500+ yds then i woudl buy a bolt gun and all in a heart beat.
Zak Smith is on this forum and he is a well known long range gunner, chech him out and some of his post.

+1
That's not hunting, that's just shooting. And "shooting" can be done at paper targets.

I'm not going to drag this into another LR hunting ethics debate, but discussing merely the facts: 7RM at 1000 yards has about the same linear kinetic energy as a 7.62x39 at 40 yards. And 7.62x39 is certainly competent to take deer at 40 yards.

I dont have the equipment yet. Heck im not even to sure my eyes are any good anymore. I can shoot steel at 100 yards like there is no tomorrow. I havent shot farther in a while. but i have shot 200 yards with my .50 black powder. That was sweet. I am not much of a scope person. for me in my future i see a nice 45-110 Sharps. The range that i go to has steel out to 700 yards. I have a lot of things on the list before i can go spending 1500 on a sharps. However i sure would love to have one. Shooting iron sites at those kinda of distances still seems crazy to me. However i know its been done. I believe that sharps has been used for up to 1200 yards.
Wow thats really amazing.
