I can't quite shake this revolver thing in me.

After my horrid experience with the Ruger Sp101 DAO.

My wife pushed me to buy the much lighter in weight,
and smoother/lighter trigger pull, Smith!

The price was better than the Ruger, and it doesn't feel like a brick in my pocket on on my belt.

My question is:

Anyone carry 38+P Glasers for defense?

Do they shoot to point of aim or are the high or low?

Has anyone ever shot a Snake with a Glaser?

The other load that I hear/see is popular SPEER 135 gr.+P Gold Dots.

Sound impressive, but I live 4 miles from the Speer factory and can't
find this ammo in any local shops.

I will appreciate input from old revolver hands.

My experience has generally been that the Glasers and Magsafes shoot to POI roughly comparable to the lighter-weight (i.e., 125 grain) .38 full factory loads.

Others may have experienced otherwise.

Save your money. We tested glasers in ballistic gel. They didn't work and their velocity claims were way off. They will probably shoot much lower than most loads due to the light weight of the projectile.

My 637 is normally loaded with Remington +p 158gr LSWCHPs -- the FBI load that will expand when fired from a snubby (the Federal and Winchester versions, because their bullets are harder-cast, probably won't expand). The Speer +p 135gr Gold Dot is highly regarded, as is the Remington Gold Saber.

For range work, check www.mastercast.net. I have fired off over 5,000 of their reloads with no problems. Reliable and economical. And prompt. You can save a lot of money by sending them your brass in exchange. I send them in thousand round lots by USPS Priority Mail. Costs a bit over nine dollars. Any other way I know of costs twenty or more.
Cordially, Jack
