Ballerina Molester? I wouldn't get one. Not all parts are interchangable with std 1911.

When I first got mine in 1998 I had problems with the mag release which a gun smith fixed for me. Since then I've put several thousand rounds through it without any problems whatsover. Like just about all handguns from that era the sights are real small. If you want a pure Colt then go for a Sistema (which I also have). For punching paper the BM is just fine.

Spend the extra $50 and get a Sistema. Old gun, old parts, something will eventually break.
Finding ballester-molina parts might cost you more than any $$ you want to save.

Fully USGI 1911 compatable.
When I cracked the slide on this Sistema (http://home.mchsi.com/~dmk0210/1911/), I sent it out to a gunsmith who rebuilt it with standard off the shelf parts. It's now a very fine and accurate shooter.

Hey B-M or Hafdasas are great quality 45s. The British SOE used them in WWII. They are solid and dependable. They improved on the Colt 1911. Browning himself would have approved. The feature of the loss of a grip safety turns some stomachs. The 1927 Colt Sistemas are nice pre-war Colts. Cruffler gives the whole story. I would buy a B-M, Hafdasa and a Colt Sistema if it were feasible. All three pistols are fine and parts are plentiful.

Hey DMK,
That's the prettiest Sistema rebuild I've ever seen! Congrats!
What was the cost for everything (not including original purchase price)?
What was the cost minus the new Colt slide?
Have one I want to turn into project gun.
Thanks.

I'd like to know how much the rebuild cost as well. And who sells Sistema's nowadays? I can't seem to find any.

"After obtaining a license for the production of the Colt Model 1927 pistol from Colt, manufacture of the Sistema Colt Modelo 1927 was undertaken at the Military Small Arms Factory in Rosario, Argentina. Manufacture is believed to have started in March 1945 and deliveries shortly thereafter. The Sistema is a carbon copy of the Colt Government Model/M1911A1, with complete interchangeability of parts.
