Just curious, does anyone know anything about this company? I see these old .22 autos come up every now and then on gun auction sites they remind me of High Standards. However I can find no information about the guns or the company, so I am wondering what happened to Fiala Arms Co?

I've heard of them, though I can't say I've seen one.
I imagine competition with Colt Woodsman pistols or the great depression killed them off.
A lot of the smaller gun manufacturers changed hands about that time. Got incorporated into the surviving companys. Marlin and Savage I know aquired some smaller companys in the 1920's and 1930's.

If you'll go to rimfirecentral.com and search under the name, there's a gentleman there who is a collector of these, and has several past posts to peruse about them.

Anthony Fiala was born in 1869 in New Jersey and was an engineer, artist, sometime arctic explorer, etc. The Fiala pistol was made in New Haven, CT starting in 1920. It closely resembled the Colt Woodsman which preceded it, but for some reason known only to Fiala was designed as a manually-operated repeater, not a semi-automatic. Fiala Arms became Schall & Co, Botwink Bros and Columbia Arms Company, not necessarily in that order. I think production stopped in about 1925.
