Visited the Jacksonville "Military Collectors Show" today and ran across a
very "unusual piece"

It was a garden variety Military 1911A1 at first glance but then I noticed a very authentic commercial Mauser Banner on the slide. Above it were the
scrolled Pruffen Pistole 11.45mm. The grips were far above average military style and the slide was marred about the finish somewhat, I noticed that the safety was a darker blue than the rest of the pistol.

I asked the owner who seemed nice enough and he indicated it was one of a few Mauser prototypes worth a fortune. As he had several nice P-38s
and Lugers and some nice FN-FALs on the table I thought no more about it.

What do you think posters the "real McCoy" an erzatz conversation piece.

Hmmm....

Mauser also produced a P-35 BHP (actually it was an FEG made pistol with a mauser banner called an SA-80, however fit and finish were superior to the standard FEG) for 2 years, its possible that in the same time frame they were re-stamping Charles Daly or Brazilian Springfields?

Never heard of a Mauser 1911. Buyer beware, do more research.
