I'm looking for a 5" 1911 with a rail that will be used mostly for HD, but will also see casual range time. I'm looking in the $1000 or so range.

I've been looking at a few Kimber models and a Springfield operator.

I already have a Para (no rail) SSP 1911 that I sometimes use for CC duty.

Suggestions? I'm looking to buy new.

SIG GSR. Any with a SN over 10K will be a fine fine gun.

Well my friend I have the solution for you.

It's the SIG Sauer GSR1911 XO and it's MSRP is $958.00

5" barrel with black finish, Novak Contrast Sights (which could be swapped out to Novak night sights), Ergo Grip (tm) XT Grips.

Anything else you want to know about it I got the catalog right here or you can check it out at their web site www.SIGSAUER.com or even better you could call up SIG if you wanted.

USMCDK,

Looks like the GSR1911 XO doesn't have a rail. I found two other models that do, 1911 Nitron rail, and 1911 Stainless rail.

I may have to check out those models.

Thanks for the advice!
Jeff

Lazuris,

I do keep a Mossy 500 SP tactical near the bed. It's a model 50420. 5+1, collapsable stock, side siddle, and a TLR-1 mounted.

The shottie is in the upstairs bedroom. If I'm downstairs, I want a railed 1911 to mount a tact light on. Just gives me another excuse to get another 1911. :D

The Mossy is my go to weapon first and foremost.

Turbo,

I'd go with the SA Operator. Its a sweet gun. Inexpensive for all the bells and whistles on it, 1200.00 at my local store. And shoots like a dream. They also make a light weight Operator non OD green with an Aluminum frame. But i'm a steel guy when it comes to 1911's
