Hi folks.

Thanks to Carl L., I dug out a handful of pocket knives that I've had for decades and haven't used. He mentioned the good 'ol days, when men were men and so were the women (sorry, I could'nt resist); but anyway, when guys routinely carried pocket knives. So it was when I grew up (in the 60's).

After reading a few of Carl L's excellent posts, I went into my dresser drawer, and found a half dozen pocket folders. One of them seemed to suggests special attention.

I wish that I could post photographs. I don't have a digital camera.

It is a Boker folder. Over all length is 3 1/8 inches. Two blades - longer one is 2", the shorter is 1". The scales appear to be rosewood. The bolsters and pins appear to be silver. It is obviously of higher quality.

The blades were really gunky, so I cleaned them with WD40 and a scouring pad. On the side of the bigger blade, it reads "Tree Brand Classic".

I really like this pocket knife; it seems of high quality. It also has "240" stamped onto the larger blade.

I took out my Sharpmaker to put a razor edge on both blades (or very close, in my opinion).

It will now be backing up my Victorinox Champion SAK and CRKT Stubby Razel for EDC. When I wear dress pants, it will go with me by itself.

Anyone have one, or ideas as to it's worth?

Thanks,

Kerry

and I don't have a picture to go on but it sounds like you have may have a Barlow pattern or a 2 blade jack. To a collector the age and condition of the knife would be important but if it is destined to ride with you for the forseeable future as a trusted friend only you can put a value on it. If I saw a nice old Boker Tree brand classic at a garage or estate sale I might be tempted to go as high as $30 or $40 dollars if I had to ( especially if the old girl was sweet talkin' me . . . ).

If it's the one I'm thinking of, its a single backspring pen knife, blades hinged at oposite ends, and is a d--m nice one. I had one in the 80's, and I let it go and have been kicking myself in the butt periodicly, ever since. Very compact little pocket knife, every bit as nice as a Case Peanut. And I like peanuts!

For your replies,

I've been packin' it along, since it's summer and I'm wearing some lighter grade material shorts, and leaving my heavier knives behind.

It's a top quality mini knife, for sure. It'll shave some hair, too. I'm not sure where it came from, but I've had it probably 20 years, I'm guessing.

I dug out some even smaller knives tonight, and put an edge on them. One blade measures only 1 1/4", the other knife has only a 5/8" blade! They are both carbon and pretty old. Both will shave hair, after playing with the Sharpmaker and Smith's Sharpening Sticks.

Thanks for your comments!

Kerry
