Just got home with a Rem 870TB Wingmaster. Barrel was back bored and choked by Stan Baker -- came with both Imp-Mod and Imp-Cyl choke tubes. Very smooth action. Something new for the Trap field.
Fortunately, I'm at my other (non-CA) home and there was no wait. Cool
For those who gotta know: $300

Congrats and Mazeltov. Now BA/UU/R, and maybe a range report on that fine barrel. Thanks...

Dave,
Got ammo, but I'm sure I'll need more. Still don't understand why it went so cheap -- maybe 'cause it was "just an 870", and used no less. I don't usually question low prices, so I won't try to overthink this one either. BTW, when I went back to the shop on Saturday, the 870 was exactly as I'd left it on the rack Friday, no one else had touched it.
Read your post on Baker barrels. I will do a range report once I get back to the range in CA.

Lots more ammo. What you have is an 870 with all around clays application. The IC tube is a little tight for skeet, but it'll do the job. It should work well for many 5 stand and SC presentations, and that IM is about optimum for 16 yard trap. And its use for general bird hunting is beyond debate.
Later, talk to Briley and get a Cylinder choke of true bore diameter, and maybe a Light Modified or Mod.
You realize this has the long forcing cone, right?
Chances are you could sell off the barrel for more than what you have in the whole thing. You may have just cashed in some good Karma(BG)...

I'm hoping good Karma comes in 3's.
The forcing cone is not as long as some I've seen, but (with the backboring) it's much shallower and is less abrupt.
Regarding selling the barrel: way to soon, but it's good to know that option is available. I need to try this at both Trap and Skeet before I do anything with it.

Baker favored cones of about 1 1/2" long, IIRC. So do some pretty good smiths I know. More he regarded as unessential.
A suggestion, shoot a couple patterns with your load(s) of choice, screw on the barrel from another 870 and try a few more. Bet the Baker barrel shows denser(Not necessarily tighter) pattern with less clumping and more even distribution.
