Hello - help me out with a dumb question. I have a Winchester 1300 12 gauge and want to take a newbie out to try the gun. I have two different loads to take. One is a box of Winchester AA Xtra-lite target load, 1 Oz. 2 3/4 inch 1 0z 9 shot. The
The other is Winchester Superspeed game load - 2 3/4, 7 1/2 shot 7/8 oz.
What's the crucial info that I don't know - duh? The WalMart dude (I know) said the oz. was the crucial number.
Thanks

Winchester AA Xtra-lite target load, 1 Oz. 2 3/4 inch 1 0z 9 shot. The Shot size makes no difference ..... and even shot weight may not make a huge difference... if velocity upped with lighter load.
For example .. a std load of 1 1/8 oz .... shoved out at nom 1200 fps .... may not give any more perceived recoil than a superfast 7/8 oz shoved out at 1390 (as Rem quotes for their 7/8 load).
If the lighter shot load is projected out faster then recoil can be about same.
I'd say neither load you mention would be excessively ''punishing'' ... certainly not when compared with a 3" mag!
Teach this newbie proper technique and hold and go for it ... he/she will probably love it either way.:)

Light target loads are generally 1200fps or 1230fps on 1oz loads. the superspeed game loads are probably running about 1400fps and will probably recoil a bit more than the target loads but not as bad as a standard 1-1/8 oz load at 1200fps. The difference is not much at all.
