Anybody got one of those Steyr Scouts in 376?
What about ballistics?
What does the rifle come with NIB?
Any info appreciated.

CDNN has some Hornady .376 Steyr. They say you can get either 225 or 270 grain "spire point" ammo at 2600 feet per second. I'm betting that that's for the 225, and the 270 is slower.
Pretty durn potent, if you ask me. Be cool in a semiauto, if ammo didn't cost $23.99 for twenty rounds.

Thing is---that $24 a box is cheap----go price some of the other big bore factory loads. ie....375H&H-----.416Rem----.460WBY and the like. Get ready for your jaw to drop-----and they don't use any Vasoline---lol.

The 2600 fps is out of their test barrel, which is 25-26" long. Out of the 19" Scout or 20" ProHunter barrel, you should expect 2500 fps or a bit more. And yes, both 225 and 270-grain loads have the same velocity. Hornady's thinking was that the 225s would be used for deer and/or for the recoil-shy and downloaded it so that its velocity was the same as the 270s. The .376 Steyr is capable of .375 H&H performance in same-length barrels, but with less recoil and in a standard-length action.
The full Jeff Cooper package includes the Ching Sling, factory-mounted and sighted Leupold Scout Scope in Steyr mounts, two five-round magazines, Jeff Cooper certificate, manual, test target, and hard case.

5 and 10 respectively in .308 but only 4 cartridges in the .376 - don't think I'm doing anything wrong?
I've heard one recent report to the effect that a Jeff Cooper package from the new distribution system was received without a sling but that a Galco was supplied quickly in response to the customer inquiry. The case isn't great but it isn't as bad as some reports make it sound to my ear - a real convenience for jurisdictions with a cased and unloaded rule if not perfect to ship freight to Africa for a million dollar trip of a lifetime.
Very flexible loading with many powders and bullets to choose from. I am looking forward to trying the new Nosler, not yet in stock at my dealers, in 260 grain bonded bullet and plastic pointed to see what that does to peening the noses in the magazines (have to watch for leaving bullets in the stock while refilling the working magazine several times during plinking or otherwise showing off). I hope to settle on that bullet to use in North America for the rest of my life.
As my other posts say I am immensely pleased and entirely satisfied while acknowledging that I could specify a custom Scout and pseudo-Scout that came closer to my idea of the consensus Platonic ideal - but I won't, these 2 are plenty good enough. Still looking for the plenty good enough 1911 from stock.
