Carry P99 in SA Mode?

Is the P99 designed to be carried in SA mode? It seems like it would be as safe as a Glock. Also, is the "trigger forward" mode in SA maintained each time the trigger is fired? (I've never fired one.)
Anyone have some insight?
Thanks,
Steve

As long as you have a holster that covers the trigger and you keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire, you will be OK!!
I carry my P99 in the DA mode!! I can hit with the DA trigger pretty close to where I hit with the SA trigger!! All you have to do is practice!!

It's the same problem.

The trigger forward thing is only for the first SA shot, and I believe only after racking the slide. I *think* that after the first DA shot, the trigger resets to it's normal, back position.

One good thing I like about the P99 is a 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch pull back on the slide will cock it. Might not help you in this situation but I just like to mention it anyway :)

Learn to shoot DA more. This pistol is very user friendly. After about 500 rounds or so the trigger really smooths itself out.

I can't comment on the safety of carrying in the SA position but I must respond to Anapex's comment on partial slide racking.
Although Walther says this is okay you should try it yourself a bunch of times before doing it under stress. I find a fair % of the times I tried this I got a failure-to-feed, very lethal if I shortly needed the gun since the round is jammed in the throat and took me more than a second or two to clear.

Penforhire: With a round already in the chamber doing the 1/2" pull on the slide to cock was giving FTFs? Just kinda curious as to how it would happen.

Anapex,
The point is that if you pull the slide back just far enough the breech face will catch the next round in the mag, but fail to eject the round under the extractor. You've just induced a double feed.
If you want to cock a DA/SA handgun under stress, try one of those new fangled guns with that have a "hammer".

Back to the original question - carrying a DA/SA gun with the mainspring cocked is dumb. It is an invitation to an ND. This is no different than carrying a Beretta, Sig, USP or 1911 with the hammer cocked but no safety.
The "Anti-stress" trigger is there in case you forget to decock, like after a stressfull shoot-out. It's not a carry mode. They make the QA model for a reason.

Yeah I know if you pull it back far enough you'll cause a double feed but the length you need to pull it back to cock it is a lot less then what you need to double feed it.

But motor control goes to hell under stress, and you become stronger. The chance that you will duplicate this careful process in a fight is pretty small.

All I'm saying is try it before you trust it. I did and I abandoned it as dangerous pretty darn fast. If it works for you more power to you.

As I alluded to earlier, if you require a DA/SA pistol that can be cocked, why choose a gun that is not designed to be cocked? Pick some other excellent weapon, like a P88.
