Bowling Pin matches in KCMO?

For being a relatively big city, KC sure is lacking on a lot of things.

I haven't shot a pin match in quite a while.

I used to shoot up in Kearney when JR's used to run them. I think the range in Independence used to shoot matches, and I also believe Bullet Hole in OP shoots them.

Anyone here a regular at any matches? I haven't asked at Independence (can't remember the name of the range...haven't been there in years cause it's way out of my way), and when ever I ask at Bullet Hole I always get, Oh you need to talk to So and So, he is sometimes here on Tuesday....in other words, no one there commits to saying, Yeah, be here at 7 on monday with your race gun.

I know Clayco shoots pins, but they run a bit too informal for me.

Paper is fun, but seriously, I have a pin gun for pins, not paper...

Pin shooting has passed its peak of popularity, I think. My oudoor club does a decent-sized event monthly (.22 pistol, centerfire handgun, .22 rifle, and shotgun categories.) There are currently two indoor ranges with weekly matches, but one is almost defunct, and attendance is down some at the other. Still, that much pin-busting activity is way more than most regions these days...:(

JR’s (now the Armory, a police supply store) still shoots pins once a week. Call 816-903-0999. Also, there is a weekly pin shoot at Millcreek. Jason at jason_morton@yahoo.com can get you times and dates. As you said, Bullet hole and Claycomo also shoot pins on a regular basis. For a real hoot, come by Claycomo on Wednesday night and shoot IPSC in an informal setting. $10 range fee, and between 80-100 rounds. Usually we get to shoot two COF’s twice and maybe a little more.

Pins are on the decline, with to few rounds fired,a nd to much emphasis on payouts. Seems like most folks just want to have fun at the range. Cowboys are taking over the world!

Bowling pin matches are shot at The Bullet Hole on Robinson (right next door to Hodgdon Powder Offices). Look 'em up online or in the phonebook. The Bullet HOle is the old Hodgdon test range (long time ago...)
Mill Creek is out east of DeSoto on the old road toward KC. Can't recall exactly what its address is...Great rifle longrange facility though.

Thanks for the help guys! Can't make it out there this wed, prior commitment. But, I am on vacation next week, so I will come out for sure.

There's a 200 yard range there? I'll bring my Bushy along too...

In would guess that the pin shooters only have access to the 12 meter range, and the other bays are reserved for the millcreek membership. If you want to shoot the 200 or 300 yard range, you will have to get a member to sign you in as a guest.
