As metioned in anther thread, I picked up a Nagant revolver today. Just a few question on the revolver.

First of all, is it true that it takes in .32 S&W Long and .32 Mag if you want something other then 7.62x38mmR?

Does anyone use this for carry or otherwise, I assume that you need to carry with a hammer on a empty chamber for safety?

Anything else of note? This was directly from the wholeseller so I assume I don't need to pay a gunsmith to look it over as it appears to be in full working order.

Anything else I should know about my new purchase?
Any noteworthy cleaning tips, this is my first revolver.

Believe it or not, that design is perfectly safe to carry with all chambers loaded - it has a rebounding hammer and will not allow the hammer forward without the trigger all the way back.

Also, I tend to use ONLY 7.62x38R - the others are a pain to extract from the chamber, dirty as all getout, and split some cases.

Also, where else will you buy a revolver that can be silenced (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud_Os0WWpFg)? :D

It is a neet little gun, glad I bought it. Who would of thought of a silenced revolver?

And that IS surpising that it is safe to carry with a round it in. and with the double action pull your not going to have to worry about a AD. ;)

With the m1895, the .32 long and .32 H&R mag are ok. I bought the conversion cylinder for .32 acp, which is what I use for practice.

I don't carry it (or anything else), but I have started shooting bowling pins with it. When I hit the pins with a .32 mag, they go off the table...When I miss, they don't. ;) Not the ideal choice for this purpose, but heck, it's my first revolver and it kept me from spending $600 before I knew what I really wanted to get.

I understand that some guys use it in cowboy action shooting, but that's not my area of expertise.

Go to www.gunboards.com/forums for a forum devoted to the m1895.
