It was 98 Degrees

in the shade today when I started shooting. It got up to 100 and dropped back down to 98 before I left. That is just too D*** hot to be shooting, but my boy wanted to go shoot, and I had some 9MM loads to test, so we gave it a go.

115 gr Hornady FMJ encapsulated with WSF, N330, AA #2, & AA #5.

I shot them in 4 different guns. An EMP (3"), an XD SC with a Firedragon Conversion barrel (3"), a TZ 75 (4 1/2"), and a Kel-Tec Sub-2000 (16")

I traded for a Buckmark with a Tactical Solutions barrel with a rail and Red Dot about a week ago. It had multiple failures to fire. The firing pin would just barely touch the outside of the rim. Frustrated my boy to no end, but he took it like a trooper. He is much more laid back than I was at that age. I might have had a dying duck fit. :o

I hope it is just in need of a cleaning. We will see. :)

Its to hot to shoot in AZ too, I shoot ALOT more in the winter than in the summer.
Theirs no shade in the desert unless I bring it and Its usually around 110*
Its just not enjoyable when Its like that so I take a break during the summer.
I reload and hoard supplies, get redy for for normal weather.
When I was younger and not so fat it didnt bother me as much.
Winter makes up for the summer thow (I keep tellin myself that), the coldest day is warm enough for shorts.

Walkalong,

It was 66 degrees here today, but the place is full of tourists, all complaining about how cold they are. I didn't hear any shooting down at the range, so everybody must be doing something else today. We've got a cowboy match there tomorrow, and it's perfect weather for it......

Sorry, but I just couldn't resist.

It was 98 here with the humidity of 52 and a heat index of 109!!!

No wind and I'm outside rebuilding a brick flower bed. I'm done for the day. LOL.

I am tumbling some .45 and .40 cal brass so I can start reloading some for later.

rc109a,

We had the snow and cold weather last winter. This global warming is about to freeze our tails off here. This past winter was the coldest anyone could remember in years and years. Even this summer is cooler than past years.

With our covered shooting positions at the range, we shoot year round. When it's raining and cold, we crank up the woodstove in the pistol range shelter and shoot comfortably.

Be glad you're not in Iraq; 120+ degrees, humid, wearing body armor and full battle rattle, sweating out fluids faster than you can replace them. And, the targets shoot back!

Well...Houston's certainly not Iraq, but they don't have humidity like we do, so it's at least a dry heat over there ;)

My back porch thermometer read 105 yesterday at 5pm, and w/heat index (i.e. humidity factored in) it was over 112. My home AC is on the fritz, and it was 83 in the house until it finally started dropping @ 7pm. I'm gonna hate this month's electric bill even more than usual. Worst part is the AC guys won't be here until Tuesday or Wednesday to replace the unit, so I have at least 48 hours more of almost non-stop AC running that can't do its job.

Oh...when I left the house at 4am it was still 82 outside....so another miserably hot day in SE Texas. It stinks when you hope a small tropical storm hits, just to give a little relief from the heat.

Kyrie, eleison...

I agree, Houston was hot yesterday. It was over 100 and we have our usual 70 to 80% humidity at times. It was extremely foggy yesterday morning and as the sun burned it off it got nasty hot and humid.

Lets hope that low over by New Orleans blows up into a storm and gets us some rain.

This global warming is about to freeze our tails off here.
Don't tell that to Al Gore. He would send his fleet of SUV's to you to try and warm it up some. He just CAN'T be wrong can he?

While Denver is baking at 103 degrees today, its 80 up here at 9000 feet in Rockies, gotta love the mountains.

LGB is about 78 degrees right now and I just put the long board ontop of the car to try and get a few waves before I start processing the brass from yesterday's trip to the range.

98* with 78% humidity here today...Decided not ride my horse or shoot on my range. Decided to do some catchup reloading in my air conditioned reloading/gun room (Man Room)...

It was only 96 today when I shot, but I had some questions to answer and wanted to shoot the new load in the same temps so I was comparing apples to apples.

Overall this weekend was fruitful. I finalized a couple of 9MM loads and picked up a lot of brass. 9MM, .38 Super, (don't find it often) .38 Spl, .40, .45, .223, .308, and a handful of 7.62 X 39 & .270. :D

But D*** it was hot. I'll plan better next time.

Decided not ride my horse or shoot on my range. Decided to do some catchup reloading in my air conditioned reloading/gun room (Man Room)...I knew The Bushmaster was smarter than me. :)

You found .38 Super Brass! That never happens when I'm at the range.

We had a Cowboy Match today and it was 66 degrees, but the wind started kicking up around 1:30 this afternoon, just before we hit the clubhouse for our potluck.

We started out toward the range today, the man on the radio said it was 106. We made a left turn and went to see a movie instead.

The high was 94 here today. Got to get up early to shoot. Last week end I was wearing a t-shirt and was sweating but the guys I was shooting with were wearing coats.

The high today was 102° which is typical for Texas. At the range today no one was really complaining. Either you're acclimated or you're not and those that aren't know to stay home.
