Is +P ammo safe to use in a Taurus PT92, and a Ballaster-Molina (a 1911 look-alike)? I know that this is a generic question, and iffy (I imagine, considering the Ballasters age), but, for the most part, is it generally ok? Thanks,
John

I wouldn't even think about shooting +P in a Ballester-Molina. Even with a new barrel. Well maybe with a new barrel and springs. Although, for the life of me, I can't figure out the reason to shoot +P.

Please do not shoot +P in a Ballester Molina. There is no need in a 60 yr old handgun nevermind the fact it's not designed for that. The PT92 should be no prob.

I had a feeling that the BM wouldn't reliably handle the +P's. I didn't want to try it out blindly, though. I figured the PT92 would handle it, but again, I wasn't sure. Not that I am going to try it, but do you think that a 1911 of that time (with the original barrel) would handle the +P's?

Original 1911's are well made handguns but I don't think I'd chance it.
Besides, what do you gain from a .45 ACP by going to +P?
It is plenty effective for defense with standard pressure ammunition.

PT92 is fine with +P, but as others state, not the Ballester-Molina.

To be a little contrary here; I have run a few rounds of Hornady TAP 200gr +P through my Ballester-Molina with no ill effect. I don't think a limited diet of +p will hurt a BM as long as it has new springs.

It's your pistol, your fingers, and your choice.
