Hmmm.... I think I want to write them now and ask about some parts that I might need someday for a unique AMT firearm.

Well at least they made their point .......

Look at their home page, the part about not selling to anti-gunners & Democrats.. .

They're entitled to establish whatever policies they choose, but I hate to see that kind of vitriol. I happen to be like a lot of guys I know who own guns and who vote for more Democrats than Repbublicans. The survival website guys have the same kind of thinking that exists among the group they abhor -- the far left -- which demonizes everyone who doesn't think EXACTLY the same way they do. They utlimately hurt the cause of gunownership by allowing us to be painted as mean-spirited. Michael Moore would love to get those guys on camera. (And I would suggest that, at least in terms of attitude, both have a lot in common.)

I don't think that a business page should be like that. Maybe a link on the business page to a "Moron Stipulation" web site of their making would be ok. Just my .02.

I work for a large office equipment dealer and provide coustomer support and at least twice a day i get people that i would like to tell goodbye you moron and dont call back.

Example:
Coustomer calls with problem copier/printer

I say the on the control panel press the following sequence of numbers

The coustomer responds "wheres the control panel?"

at this point 20 seconds into the call you have no dobut that you are connected to a moron and you will spend 30 minits trying to help someone who couldnt wipe their own butt with written and illustated instructions. Yes i understand this guy he has had enough of the same stupid questions that he probably explained on the page that he replaced with that one.

You probably took a deep breath and took the guy through the process on the panel. Telling him, which I'm sure you didn't, that he's a moron or anything else will not endear him to you. That would hurt future sales.

It's the same with that web site but in written form. Those who called about the AMT info will be further infuriated and those who didn't who thought to, would now not order anything from them what so ever. He's only hurting himself.

They'll not be in business long. I would hesitate to call because if I asked the wrong question I would face the same derision. I work with the public everyday, and face my share of morons, you just can't cll them that.

BTW, Flynt, welcome aboard!!

I feel their pain. But it's a good way to go out of business.

I happen to be like a lot of guys I know who own guns and who vote for more Democrats than Repbublicans.

 Democrats? Would that be the same Democrats that appoint liberal judges who re-wrte the laws to suit them and thereby continually take away more and more of our freedom?

Yeah, that's them.

I think it's usually a mistake to try to lump groups of people together and assume that they are a monolithic bloc, all thinking the same way. Some us need to see the world in black & white and good v. evil, but sometimes it's far more complicated.

Yes.

If I wanted something they had at a price I was willing to pay.

Flynt, it's a mistake to live in la-la land and ignore track records and history.

We can both name plenty of lousy Republicans, but name me one Democrat alive today who is NOT an enemy of liberty.

Quartus,

I give up. I clearly am unable to articulate my position, because you keep, at least in my mind, proving my point about the dangers of demonizing others. It leads to superificial analysis and counter-productive dialogue. I wish you the best; have a nice life.

You have got to understand the mentality of the people in that area of Idaho. I used to live near Couer D'Alene, and while it is a beautiful city and the lake is awesome...I can totally understand this website.

There are a lot of weird people in that area of the country...

I think it's funny. Sounds like they've had alot of their time wasted by morons. Time is money.

I'd buy from them. Why not? No need to take it personally unless.....

Just sent them an e-mail asking if the Magnum Hunter magazines will work for the .22Mag Automag pistol.

Let's see if that violates the "Moron Stipulation"...:scrutiny:

Especially if they're interchangeable with a standard 10/22. The heavy barrel, if it shoots well, isn't a a bad price. ;)

Yes, I would buy from them. Some people are really thin skinned and would take offense to that. I on the other hand, have self esteem. :D

In a word, NO!! :barf:

Yes, in a heartbeat, if I wanted something they had. I think their "moron stipulation" is funny and saves time.

When I used to set up at gun shows with tables of expensive MGs for sale, I had a big sign made up that said

"I will talk to and negotiate with either a husband OR a wife. I will not get in the middle of a husband-wife debate. Potential buyers, please designate ONE person to do the talking."

This sign got a lot of "Amen, brother" comments from people who saw it, especially other dealers.

Well, you have given me another reason not to buy from these bozos. I think their "moron stipulation" should also apply to ads like this:

"Danish Springfield CMP M1 Garand
Springfield Garand, assembled in Denmark, using the Springfield receiver, Beretta and Danish GI MILSPEC parts. Beautifully arsenal refurbished by the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Stock is beautiful. Comes with MILSPEC leather sling, eight NEW clips in a bandolier, USGI manual, and all in a foam lined hard case. $1300"

Gee...what a deal......

JohnKSa
August 31, 2003, 10:56 PM
I would.

Look at it from their perspective. They want to sell parts. That's how they make money.

They don't make money answering questions about companies that are out of business.

They don't make money when people call them for parts they don't have.

WORSE THAN THAT!

While someone is wasting their time asking questions about defunct companies, someone else is trying to get through to spend money!

While someone is trying to get them to sell parts they don't have, a paying customer is being delayed or can't get through.

Think about the phrase "hundreds of calls a week" and what that means in a given day...

You'd get irate too.

im with zundfolge

i dont own an AMT...........course i dont think i would buy one now just because of the lack of parts an service available.

i think its kind of a P#$@%$K thing to do to post something like that. i wouldnt want to call on a question on anything else they sell for fear of getting referred to the "Idiot Stipulation"

IF I owned any of those five firearms listed (which I don't) I surely would consider buying from them.

I am reminded of the photo that was making the rounds a few years back...
It was the little boy from the movie "The Sixth Sense" talking with Bruce Willis with the caption, "I see stupid people, they're everywhere, and they don't even know they're stupid."

I was at Sam's Club Friday, waiting for my free sample of Apple Pie when the guy in front of me asked the demo lady if Sam's Apple Pie had any meat in it.

Upon reflection I wonder if he needs any parts for a Hardballer or a Longslide?

I don't own any AMT firearms so I don't need this guys services. I can respect someone who tells it like it is.

Absolutely. I'm of the opinion that our society would be a better place if "moron stipulations" figured a little more prominently.

I'm wondering why some are experiencing such an aversion to moron stipulations. :D

So basically their web site is conveying that they only have a very specific and limited inventory followed by a very specific and limited knowledge and very limited courtesy.

As a counter to their statement, they don't pass my "MORON STIPULATION" for rude and/or ignorant gun dealers.

The sad part about their claims is that they most asssuredly do know about AMT and Galena as that is/was the maker of the items they sell.

Ya know, I have spent years and years dealing with the public and always believed the clap-trap about kissing their asses, the customer is always right, etc, etc...

When I re-opened the car lot recently I didn't go with that theory, though. Before, I did take that direction and let myself be dickered down in prices and conned into fixing crap on As-Is cars and putting up with whining over $1000 heaps because the purchasers thought they should be getting a new car. I felt I had to since the lot was financed and the inventory as well.

This time, I own the cars and the lot free and clear. As such I've adopted a "buy it or don't, I don't care" attitude. And a firm commitment to "As-Is means AS-IS!" Don't buy the warranty expect to fix it yourself. I don't put up with lot lurkers, I don't save cars without a hefty deposit and I don't refund deposits anymore, period. In short, I've reversed all the nice guy things I did before that nearly ran me out of business and you know what? I'm selling more, at a larger margin, than I ever did before...and more units relative to inventory size than any other dealer in the county.

I've come to the conclusion that what matters is admitting when you're wrong. Fix it if you agreed to. Keep your word but, otherwise, blunt to the point honesty and efficiency and an obvious refusal to have your time wasted by idiots is better policy today than butt-kissing. If these guys are honest and efficient and reasonably priced they'll do just fine.

Sure, I would buy from them. I have no problem at all with they saying right up front that this is all they have and you are wasting your time and theirs by calling to ask about stuff they don't have.
They don't have to be nice about it because this is probably the only place on earth to get those parts.

Have you ever thought about the guys running a very small business or a one man business ? How can he get any work done if he is on the phone all the time ? I have often thought this when I have read posts about some gunsmith who answers the phone personally. It is no wonder it takes so long for him to get the work done on your gun. He is on the phone instead of working.
