At a pawn shop around the corner from my house I've located a LNIB Sig P229 chambered in .40 S&W with all the goodies and everything for $600.00 OTD. Deal or no deal? This would be my first auto pistol, and I'm very tempted. Thoughts?

Not a bad price at all. It's hard to get more gun for the money, than from a 229. You'll be pleased.

Like new in the box.. 600 OTD.. would be a great start in my opinion.

Great, great, gun..

It's full of magic that will change your world..

Load that puppy up with 180gr FMJ and JHP's asap..

Move on it..

Ps.. I have 2 of them and couldn't be happier in the 40cal department

Something about the 229 - traded my first one away - a year later I bought another.

They are great guns in almost every respect.

I think $600 for the almost new P229 sounds quite fair. I bought mine 7 years ago in similar condition for $500, so allowing for inflation the $600 is okay.

tell ya' what! I have three 229s. One .40 DAK using a .357 barrel that I have for a home defense/travel gun, $625 used but like new, bought a few years ago.

One TT 9mm, way overpriced (!) and one DAK in 9mm, for $620 new. The nines use the same mags as my 228, plus the 226 mags from days gone by. They, along with the 228, are my SHTF guns with 20 round mags.

I find the 229R with a .357 barrel a little too heavy for carry, but prefer the 357 to .40.

I am looking to get a .22 conversion for the 229, which should give a lot more flexibility. It can be used in any of the 229 guns.

Sounds like a pretty good deal, I say go for it!

I picked up my 229 a few months ago for $500 and it came with the .40 and .357 Sig barrels, night sights and three hi cap mags and it was worth every penny and then some. Its my primary ccw and I couldn't be happier with it, it's one of those guns I never plan to part with. $600 is not a bad price at all for one of these, especially if its in like-new condition. Buy it and enjoy!

Here's mine....

Why not just get a new CZ P-01 or P06 and save $100.

That deal is fair IMO, nothing to cry about if it gets gone.
