Q about Mec-gar mags for Taurus 99

I've a question about the 17-rd magazines Mec-gar makes for Taurus 92/99. Are they still the same size as the factory 15-rounders or, anyway, short enough so the pistol will fit in the IPSC standard/modified measuring box?
Anyone?

They are the exact same size only the 17 rounder uses a hollow style follower so that the spring goes up into the follower to allow those two extra rounds. The spring, mag body, everything else is the same. You could put a 17 round follower into a 15 round mag and have the same thing as the 17 rounder and vice versa.
The Taurus mags don't work in a Beretta 92. I understand they will with a little modification, but that's not something you want to do with expensive prebans.

Actually it's Beretta mags that won't work in the Taurus. Magazine catch cutouts are too small. You can use Taurus mags in Berettas all day with no problems. Widen the Beretta cutouts and Beretta mags work in Taurus just fine.

No SouthPS I had some 17rd Mec-Gar Taurus 92 mags and none of them would fit in my Beretta 92.
But as we *both* previously mentioned, they will work with some modification.

Beretta openings are long and narrow, taurus openings are short and wide.

Thanks for the info! I ordered two for my Taurus 99 right away.
No bans here, but still they cost a good deal... the local retailer wants 38,50€ apiece. Ok, Mec-gar as such ought to be high quality, right?

A buddy of mine bought a few Mac-gars for his Baretta, the slide doesn't stay back on the last shot.Other than that he like them ok.Factory mags are much better quality in my opinion.Buyer beware....

Factory Beretta mags probably aren't much better quality than Mec-Gar mags for the Beretta -- because Mec-Gar makes the Beretta factory mags.
And apparently makes their own after-market mags to essentially the same high standards.
Mec-Gar also makes factory mags for S&W, Ruger, CZ, H&K, SIG, Kel-Tec, Taurus, Walther, and others. The are now the sole OEM provider for Beretta, SIG, Walther, and a few others.
Recently, CZ started using Mec-Gar as the sole provider for guns imported into the US. (Don't know about CZs sold elsewhere.)

Mec-Gar does not make the factory Beretta magazines although they did years ago. For a time Beretta made their own magazines and now MDS does.
IMO Mec-Gar mags are better than factory though.
