Nudie Shots (my new 870 Wingmaster)

Look what followed me home from the Pawn Shop. Cost a buck and a half... and about the same condition as the 20" barreled gun I was going to buy a few weeks ago. Story behind that one was that I went to the other pawn shop with the money to buy the gun and they were out to lunch. Went by two days later... still with the money and there was a sign saying they'd be back in 15 minutes. You'd think that they would actually WANT my money, but oh well. I went to another pawn shop and got this one for $50 less. 30" full choke barrel (11.5" of which will be gone pretty soon) Wingmaster with a 2 3/4" chamber. I'm going to leave it like that. I don't feel the need for a 3" conversion on a gun this cheap. But it looks pretty, don't you think?

Man!!!! That is a STEAL at $150. I finally found an 870 under $175 here and it was a RAG, an OLD RAG. Plain barrel and beat to crap, it was still on the rack for $159. You guys and these cheap guns are going to put me in the looney bin lusting for deals like that of my own!!!

Great deal, Badger Arms. Congrats, you've found a Cinderella shotgun. I note the sling studs, always a nice to have.
One thing....
Long old barrels for these 870s are getting scarcer due to the insane availability of hacksaws, the weapons of choice for kitchen table gunsmiths. That's a shame, these barrels are well wrought and choked nicely.
Short used 870 barrels are neither expensive nor scarce. If this is to be a "Serious" shotgun, get one of these and keep that fine old barrel for Full Choke work like trap or card shoots.
And H, have patience. Deals like this and my #6 show deals on good'uns are still possible, though one may have to wait a bit.

Great find!
I agree with Dave McC about not cutting the barrel.
There's a guy on www.sturmgewehr.com who sells 18" 870 barrels w/ front bead sight for $75.00.

I agree with dave about not cutting the barrel also...alas it's one of my biggest regrets having done that, under what I realize now was bad advice back then...

I've cut several barrels in my time, and I'd have to say that I'm quite good at it. I agree with the fact that longer barrels are harder to find, etc. Problem is, I KNOW that I can sell the gun for $25 more with a shorter barrel and make a profit... :uhoh: BUT I still like the longer barrel and the swing of it. I was annoying my wife earlier by shouldering it and playing with the balance earlier. Maybe I'll just try a few games of trap and see how I do. If I make enough from selling my two surplus 870's, I might have enough for this sexy shootzenboomer:

You have to witness the 3.5" High Velocity BBB Steel loads on geese to believe it. Inside 65 yards it is like the hand of God swatting them from the sky............:what:
