A-Zoom snap caps, what is the benefit?

I understand that A-zoom snap caps are good for dry fire practice, but how do they operate? It appears that they load into a mag like a normal round, but after dry firing, do they eject like a spent casing would?
Anyone care to weigh in on whether or not these are worth it for dry fire practice? thanks!
Doug

Obviously not for autoloaders. Also, for others guns, the A-zoom case does not expand as with actual fired ammo, so this ejection is different as well.
Snap caps can be helpful for reload pratice -- especially with wheel guns and shotties.

Their muzzle velocity is amazingly consistent from one to the next. Standard deviation approaches zero. Better than any other ammo ever made.
Unfortunately, penetration suffers...big time. :)

IMHO, they are definitely a good investment. They work great in revolvers, and can be used in autoloaders, bolt guns, lever actions, etc, by grinding or filing off a small section of the rim where the extractor grabs it. When you need to remove it, just use a cleaning rod to knock it out. I have A-Zoom caps for all of my guns.

the only useful purpose they serve that i know of is to stick them randomly in your friends' magazines during practice so they don't know when they're shooting a live round and when they're shooting a snap cap.
depending on what you're practicing, you'll quickly see if they have a flinching problem :)
or you can make them practice clearing the "malfunction"

From my experience they help out in practicing for CAS. I can load up the snap caps into my rifle and cycle 10 rounds while aiming at targets and practice my sweeps and what not.

Or you could make up dummy rounds, and put erasers in the primer pockets...
