Changing base pads on Kahr K9 Mags?

Has anyone changed the base plates on their K9 mags to the MK9 base plates? The standard base plates just seem too thick.

I dont see why this wouldnt work, mechanically that is. The reason the K9's are so thick is the shape of the grip and a little added length to its overall dimension is in the mag base. Its designed to be used in a full hand grip. I love the way the Kahrs feel...but smaller hands may feel it differently.
