Any Hornet shooters out there have a source for brass other than Winchester or Remington?

I heard it through the grapevine that Hornady makes some runs but they don't list it on their web site.

Would even think about trading for some one fired if there is any one out thre that has some.

What seems to be the problem with Winchester or Remington brass?

MMCSRET,

No real problem, just the curse of the consant quest for the perfect load!

But I do have some problems with my Savage mdl.40 Varmint Hunter failing to extract at times, and am checking into rim configuration on the cartridges to see if the problem lies there.

I also have a Md 40 and I polished the chamber and that helped also cleaned bolt/extractor religiously and finally gave up and full length sized each time, it still shoots better than I do.

Not an answer to your question, but I have had very good luck with using Remington nickel plated brass in both my 22H and K-Hornet. I also purchased a Redding neck sizer die and get 4-5 reloads with this brass. Brass was purchased in bulk from MidwayUSA. :)

May be that's my problem, I neck size only, Lee collet die. I've only shot one box of factory through the gun and then every thing else has been my reloads. I bought a new set of Hornady new dimension full length dies and I'll try them. I too polished my chamber with 0000 steel wool on a mandrel chucked up in my cordless drill, that seemed to help some but the problem still occurs at times. The nickle cases might be a little smoother.

If you don't mind once fired Remington. I used to own a Savage 340 had great success with IMR-4227 CCI BR primers and the 45 Gr. Hornet bullet. I always FL resized. 300 Yds shots on a pop can was bread and butter shooting.
