Rohrbaugh Questions

What is the difference between the R-9 and the MS-9? The Rohrbaugh website is acting very strange and I cannot find this information therein.

Next question: will the gun be able to operate without wearing the magical rings? Answered that question myself, from their site: 'The locking system can be deleted and the price drops $100 as a result.'

Lastly: has Rohrbaugh announced plans for selling this gun in California?

This website (http://www.rohrbaughfirearms.com/productspg.htm) worked ok for me. The MS-9 "is fitted with a patented magnetic safety sear." And "A specially designed and Patented ring (2 per gun) comes with the Rohrbaugh MS-9."

The other model, the R-9, is NOT described has having the magic magnetic thingamabob.:)

R-9 = Rohrbaugh 9, as in Rohrbaugh 9mm pistol.

MS-9 = Magnetic Safety 9, as in Rohrbaugh 9mm pistol with an internal magnetic safety trigger locking device requiring the unlocking by use of a ring worn on the middle finger in most cases.

The R-9 is going to be first out of the chute next month at the SHOT Show in Orlando. I don't think there's a release date on the MS-9. Originally, the MS mechanism was going to be removable, but I suspect that idea has been dropped because states that require internal locks don't want them to be removable.

Contact Eric Rohrbaugh to get on the "early adopters" list.

Just called Eric and spoke for 20 minutes - what a great guy. I'm on the list - thanks for the lead, Blackhawk.

Eric said that the CA drop test will be no problem.

The gun will ship with carbon fiber grip panels (the aluminum ones shown cost $500 a set!) which will be even lighter on the gun.

The product is something like 4-6 months for reaching the hands of consumers, if I recall what Eric said.

Did anyone mention a "street price" for it? (the gun, I mean, with "regular" grips...)

Did anyone mention a "street price" for it?

I'd like to know too because MSRP is $795.

Found out today that Rohrbaugh's booth at the SHOT Show will be 5970, if anybody's interested in that tidbit!

5970 has been noted, of course you knew I was going to hit it anyway. After all www.shotshowreports.com was the one where the Rohrbaugh story broke first!!!!!!!! See? You guys knew about something before anyone who reads gun magazines. I do provide useful info.

Indeed you do! That's how I found out about Rohrbaughs in the first place. :D

I'd like to know too because MSRP is $795. I wouldn't be surprised to see the "street price" for this gun to be above the MSRP. :D

Eric assured me that those on the waiting list will have an idea of the street price, and wanted to assure me that I could get the gun without a hassle.

When they are ready, he will call me and ask for my FFL information. My FFL (met on TFL) is a great guy and I trust him anyways, but I can see how some would be concerned.

I agree that it's a very interesting pistol, can't wait for it to hit the street so we can get a look at it's function/form in everyday carry.

I met Eric at last years SHOT show and got to look at the prototype a bit.

If my impressions are correct the Rohrbaugh is going to kick serious butt. This is one nice gun.
