Does anyone here load for the 7X57 military barrel? Just curious what works for you.

My experience is with 93 Spanish and 95 Chilean. Found that most of the original military ammo was long heavy bullets in the 175 gr. area +/-. If I did that at moderate velocities it worked OK, never great because the bores were not overly good.

I reload for a Chilean mauser. For me, I have had very good results with H380 and IMR4064 in moderate ranges with the 139 and 140 gr bullet. The rifle is very accurate with just about anything. It will easily shoot 1.5 inch groups.

I also have a couple of spanish 7x57 with barrels that look like sewer pipes. With those, I am able to get 3 or 4 inch groups at 100 yards and do not expect anything better.

schnarrgj,
You may may want to try re-crowning those sewer pipes. I did my Brazilian 6.5x55 sewer pipe and the groups shrunk by half. :)

I am thinking of reloading for a 1908 Brazilian, I've always heard the heavier bullets tend to shoot better.... I'll have to try a few of each weight!
