are you shooting trap or skeet and sporting clays? also what size shotgun do you typically shoot gauge and legnth? i started shooting trap with a 28" barrell when i was younnger and grew into the 30". I have always only shot 28" on skeet and sporting clays.

28-30 is a good all around length.

I run a 30 for skeet and trap and a 32 for SC.

26" has worked very well for skeet since 1968 with my two Remingtons -- 12ga and 20ga.
Shorter barrels swing a little faster.
I've shot doves like crazy with these guns, also.

I've got 28" (mod) and 30"(full) barrels for the 12ga, but never use them, but I don't shoot Trap or SC.

Depends on if you go O/U or auto. Auto's have about 4 inches more length due to the receiver. So a 28 auto is like a 32 OU. Just an example. I like 28's on my Autos. If I had a OU, It would be a 30 or 32.

Mako,

You can gets lots of different answers to your question, but having shot a considerable amount of clay targets over the past 10 to 15 years and having observed a considerable number of other shooters too, I would recommend a 28" barrel for an auto and 30" barrels for an O/U.
