I bought this at an estate sale the other day go for $1.00. It looks wicked but what is it. It may be a rescue knife. The only ID on it is WK. Boy, does it make a nice weak hand carry while carrying a gun.

It's a Wyoming Knife.
Do a Google for extensive information, lots of pictures, and variations on the theme.
It's basically a very no-nonsense gutting-and-skinning knife with replaceable blades.

It's a Wyoming Knife
It sure is. They are simple and practical. I have never skinned with one, but they make quick work of opening up a big buck.

Thank you for your reply. I did do a google search for WK but found nothing I didn't know the the W was for Wyoming. I won't be doing any gutting of game. But I think I'll carry it concealed with my gun as a back up thingy
The one I have is injected metal. What kind of metal I don't know but it is not iron or magnetic.
Their new ones are fiberglass impregnated plastic.
I may just order a new blade and their leather sheath.
Thank you
Gordon

A Wyoming knife with sharp scapels is a wonderful skinning tool-about the best there is IMHO. It would be the worlds stupidest carry knife how ever unless your name is Hannibal Lechter.

I am also finding it hard to understand how it could be practical for SD use unless your attacker was wearing this:

Dumb thinking on my part. I think I'll just leave it in the car.
My thought process was it is small and I can hide it anywhere. Once my fingers are in the loops no one is going to take it away. I can slash and smash like brass knuckles. While it may not go through three layers of clothes. It can cut arms, face, and neck.
I have one of the thumb flick knives. True it is longer and can go through many layers of clothes and reach vital spots. But I'm not sure that I could operate it under stress. I do practice opening with my off hand quite often but that is not under panic or stress. Still sometimes I did not get it opened.
I guess I'll just have to rethink the whole thing.
Thanks for the replies well it was only a $1.00 I could sell it for
$5.00 somewhere.
