going shopping for new guns

I am looking at a few different models of guns. Beretta Cougar, Glock, and SW99's. I will be purchasing a 9mm at first, then supplementing that gun with a .45 acp in the same series at a later date. I am fairly new to shooting, only having shot .22 rifles so far. I am buying the 9mm as an "entry level centerfire" to start with, then will buy the .45 as I become more experienced.

My thinking behind the "same series" gun is I would already be familiar with the operation and handling.

Thanks in advance for your replies.
