Can you recommend a low priced CA. approved DOJ lock for a shotgun?
Please post urls & prices.
I can not afford a large safe yet so I am buying the lock to pick up a shotgun.
Thanks in advance.

IMO locks on a gun are a liability. I'd get the cheapest lock and chuck it.
BTW do you live alone or do you have kids? And you don't have to put asterisks next to the thread subject, we'll reply if we have an answer, we won't ignore ya ;)

I was under the impression that the free Benelli/Beretta supplied cheapo cable-lock was DOJ approved.
Go to gun store and verify.

Go to this page and do some research.

If you're in California, this web page is invaluable.

One other suggestion. If you can't afford a safe, get a gun locker that's on the CA DOJ approved list. You can probably find one for $200, and that will take care of all future firearm purchases (you can sign the affadavit that says you have an approved storage type so no need to purchase addtional locks).
