Rumors has it that here in Taiwan, due to the high amounts of robberys in this gun free utopia :barf: they are thinking of adding some laws in the books, one of them being the "robbery murder" law..

I'm shocked, but the PRK actually has this law (and I like it!!)

It basically says, that if you are involved in a robbery, and someone dies because of it, then you are liable for the death.

So if me and some other shmuck rob a stop-n-rob, and the clerk shoots me or the cops shoot me, the other shmuck would be on the hook for murder. The law basically is blind to who actually did the killing, only that if you are part of the robbery team, and someone dies as a result (be it a teammate, innocent bi-standard etc..) That's murder 1.. and you get to rot in jail for the rest of your life.

Of course, (here in Taiwan) if a cop gets killed, that's a bullet to the back of the head (Which I really have no problems with, if you kill a cop in the process of robbing someone.. what you get is what you get.. no tears)

There is (for some strange reason) strong opposition against the bill here.. (You'd think that shows that all the politicians are all robbers.. oh wait.. err..)

Just wanted to see what you all thought, is there an angle on this law that I've missed?

twoblink,

Quite common here in NV. Two or more dudes commit a crime, one of them get's offed (or a victim) and the remaining BG are charged with said homicide which occured during the commission of said crime to add to the charge of the first crime... be it car jack, home invasion, armed robbery, you name it.

Tends to keep the BG behind bars a little longer and thats a good thing in one way. Somebody (tax payers) always has to keep him/her fed, clothed and housed tho' (bad thing) during period of incarceration.

Adios

I vote nay. (like it matters)

Laws like this don't address the real problem.
Any time that happens, the eventual and inevitable outcome is the law is misused.

:banghead:

Hal..

But I can't imagine this in the books being a bad thing..

But I have to agree with you though; I feel that if there is a law, there is a liberal who is ready to abuse that law..
