Took my new 11-87 out for a test run this weekend and sometime during the session the rear bead sight fell off, lost forever. Should I replace it with a factory sight? or should I go with one of the aftermarket sights? Any suggestions? Thanks for your replys.

Do you mean the little bead halfway down the rib? If so...

In premounted games, it's a nice idea to ensure your face is where it belongs, but not essential.

In other shooting, a non issue. We need to look at the target, not the bead(s).

Put one on if you want, but it's not mandatory.

HTH....

Yes I am talking about the little bead half way down the barrel.I don't use the sights when shooting but thought it would be nice to use it to see if the old eyeballs are lining up with the barrel and such.I am new to shotgun shooting so I can use all the advice I can get. Thanks Dave.

You're quite welcome, Calvin. Two beads give a quick check on whether your barrel is in the right place, BUT YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THE TARGET, not the beads, when actually shooting. If the fit is good, one can take the beads clean off and still do a fair job of shooting.

As a newcomer to shotgunning, I suggest you research the Archives. The regulars here are a helpful, experienced bunch of great folks.
