The local news just did a story on Wisconsin's concealed carry bill, and the station announced an online poll. Right now we're outnumbered 77% to 23%.

You know what to do.

The poll is at http://www.touchtmj4.com/ about 2/3rds down the page on the right.

Would Wisconsin be safer if citizens could legally carry concealed weapons?

Its an illogical argument.

Just because you wouldn't be "Safer" with CCW doesn't mean you would be less safe with it either.

I don't care, I emotionally voted anyway. JeepDriver's right 70%-28.5% still.

FWIW, the "Baltimore Sun" did one of these polls here recently, and it was 90%-10% in favor of shall-issue in MARYLAND. I guess it shows that the rural population reads the paper, while the ultra-liberal (and totally politically dominant in state elections) doesn't.:neener:

I, however, found this far more interesting:

After years of political battles, legal wrangling and controversy, Wisconsin's first mourning dove hunt got under way Monday a half-hour before sunrise. State hunters got their first chance at North America's most popular game bird.

Found what's up, Tried it again with a diffrent browser and the ani-'s vote went up!

So I had a look at the code:D (being a web designer and a programmer has it advantages at times)
They reversed the results so that if you vote yes it shows it as voting no.

Dear Sir
I am Writing this e-mail to Inform you of a aparent error in the code of your poll on your main page, It would seem that the code is either mistakenly or otherwise set to reverse the results.

IE: No counts for a Yes and a Yes for a No.

As a Programmer and Web Developer, I feel it my duty to inform you of this serious error.

I thank you for your time.
Let's see what they reply with...:D

Totally invalid poll, but if it goes against us, they will surely use it against us anyway.

The poll is stupid and useless..

Took me about 5 minutes to write a little script that auto votes..

Just watch.. I'll vote about 300 times in the next 10 minutes..

Being a programmer has it's advantages!!!

But of course, had it gone the anti's way, they would have reported it. But I'm sure they will keep hush when we win..

(Of course, I will make sure we win.. pro-gun people are not just smarter people, but smarter programmers!!)

Of course now that Zedicus found out what the original game was (adjusting the code to reverse the results) and they presumably fixed it (as the yes votes are now going to yes) I'm sure that the station will come out (if they mention the poll at all) and say that "There was a flaw with the program and that "no" votes were counted as "yes". Therefore all 86% of you were actually voting no and we were right to help keep those scary guns away from everyone but the Kings Men."

Watched the numbers go up. This "poll" has no cookie assignation to the voter so they can vote as many times as they want.

You can bet your sweet one that the antis are stuffing the thing.

Actually this is a well worded poll, considering the media and all. One can easily justify the result that "91% of respondents said 'Wisconsin would be as safe or safer if citizens could legally carry concealed weapons?"

At least that's how I read it.

I would like the truth to be known as much as anyone here, but I have a problem with voting more than once or using scripts to run votes.

If the antis were running scripts and destroying the poll results, we'd all be apoplectic with outrage.

I know it's just a stupid, unscientific web poll, but doesn't anyone else see the potential hypocracy here?

Nevermind the fact that the moment the webmasters realize this is happening, the poll will be pulled. If they were running, say, ten votes an hour and suddenly they're getting 20,000 votes an hour, you don't think they'll wonder about it?

C.R.Sam
September 4, 2003, 12:21 AM
If the antis were running scripts and destroying the poll results, we'd all be apoplectic with outrage. Or counterattack. There was a period where the anti vote rate was about 7,000 to 1 pro vote.

Would be good if they did pull the poll. Since there is zero security on it ; it has zero validity.

Actually, I too am curious as to how people in Wisconsin honestly feel about CCW, not in winning a rigged poll.

I wonder if they were running these polls in Minnesota before their law got passed? (I sat this because I keep reading about the leftists screaming about how they were "blindsided" by the new law).
