Hi everyone,

I am going hunting with my dad and a friend of his that used to be a gunsmith. His friend called me today and asked a bunch of questions about my gun. What grain bullet, brand, type, what I had it sighted in at ect.

I answered Winchester Silvertip, 30-06, 180GR, sighted 200 yds.

Why would he ask this? Also we are hunting a heavily wooded area if that matters.

Could have been weighing your experience/knowledge or just likes to talk about this stuff, since he was a gunsmith & may be a hunter. Might have reservations about what he deems adequate deer medicine. In any event, it sounds as if you answered just fine. Enjoy & good luck.

just because a person SHOULD have the knowledge to fix a gun and tell you why you shouldnt put crisco in the trigger mechanism of your garand, doesnt mean they have the knowledge needed to go afield and hunt.
Probably just seeing what you were taking and kinda judging it against what he was thinking about taking along.
