Maybe a dumb question, but what is the difference in internal vs external extractors? Any close up photos of both types? What are the pros and cons to both types?

Thanks

A internal extractor is a long (~3") thin (~.2") piece of metal mounted along the right side of your frame- there's a claw on the end that protrudes into the breech area- take the slide of (after unloading) remove the barrel, and it's between 9-10 o'clock on the breechface. External extractors are mounted on the oustide of the frame- look at the right side of a Glock slide at the rear of the ejection port.

I am not knowledgable enough to disucss their pros/cons.

A lot of other people felt they were:

Hopefully, those people don't want to have deja vu.

I have not had any problems with either other than alittle adjusting here and there. I think they both have good and bad points. It will more or less depend on personnal preference. Myself I dont like the look of the external type. Thats the only reason I dont like them even though I do have a pistol with the external extractor. Sad to say but I think most manufacturers will be using the external style before too long.
