I have a 185 gr SWC from Cast n Blast bullets. It is very similar in shape to the #452630 200 gr SWC in the Lyman Pistol manual.

Does anyone have a light load using Bullseye or 700X for this SWC?

Would I be able to use the 185 gr alloy bullet starting grains as listed in the Lyman manual, but using the say #452389 bullet and still be ok? I'd be at 4.0 and 3.5 grains respectively.

I've been shooting 185 or 200 gr LSWC for years with 3.3 to 3.7 gr Bullseye. I got a lighter spring from Wulff to make the 3.3 work reliably. I use similar loads in 231 also. Go for it.

Dan,
I have used 3.5gr 700X for .45acp target loads with H&G#68 (200gr SWC), H&G#130 (185gr WC) and the Lyman 452460 (200gr). These loads have done well for me for 30 years. Quantrill

From the RCBS Cast Bullet Manual:

185 grain SWC Cast Bullet
5" 1911 Pistol

700X 3.8 gr (726fps) --> 4.3 gr (825fps)
Bullseye 3.8 gr (685fps) --> 4.3 gr (772fps)

Good Luck...

Joe

Thanks for the info. I see the need to invest in more manuals, as I only have 2 at the moment. Basically I've been using the same recipe (200 SWC and Bullseye or 700X).

Well, I'll work the 185 gr up and see how she shoots.
Thanks again
Dan
