I call it the 8X Skinner due to the 8 X's formed from the file work.
OAL - 7.25 in
Blade - 154CM
Handle - Buckeye Burl Stabilized
Sheath - .093 Concealex w/ paracord attachment system

The sheath works great with the thumb tab. The best working tension fit I have done to date :)

Handy looking little knife.

Looks like your grind flairs towards the tip. Does it look the same on the opposite side? If not it might be from applying a little more pressure as you get towards the tip on the belt. I have that problem and the only way I can figure how to get rid of it is to be aware of it and grind.

I'd fold the kydex the other way so that the open "mouth" of it isn't with the edge.

I think I like it. :)

While stylish, I think it might taper too much near the butt for a good grip, though.

Real Screws!
I so excited! I mean a person can use a regular old flat screwdriver and everything!

It looks to me, a spent 45ACP casing would work on them screws too!

Looks great. I'd have never considered using brass flat-head screws like that. I think it looks really good with the buckeye. Very nice. Looks like you have a nice hammon line too if my eyes aren't deceiving me.

Yeah, me too. I usually end up doing the curvy sections by hand.

Thanks ya'all !!!

Yeah a 45 will unscrew those scales.

The grips are all about prefrence I guess, for me this is not a chopper that needs a big fat grip more of a tool for surgery. The narrowest point of the handle part is 1/2 by 5/8 thats a pretty fat chunk to grab onto.

About the grind it is identical on either side. On the hollow grind I releave pressure as I get towards the point for a stronger tip for prying and what not. The tip then ends up with a wider looking bevel than the belly. Although it sharpens on a flat stone just fine as it is finished with a diamond bed. I have been gettin hasstled for this,:o but I think its effective.

Thanks Again

You'll continue to get hasseled for it until you can convince folks you did it on purpose and it works.

I guess thats the way it goes when you don't do it like everyone else :D

Do you think that a pic with like five of them all done with the same grind would make it more obvious that its how I want it, and that its not an accident?

I resemble that remark...*grin*

<points> See! I told ya'll didn't I ! *you-folks-should-listen-to-me*

My new buddy Harlan here, can change his scales with a spent 45 casing and put on, say, white Micarta , and be all set with his BBQ Knife.

Ha! Boy gotcha beat ain't he? *yep*

wow... very nice knife.

as far as the grip goes, i love the scales and width but i think i'd like it a little better if it flared out a little at the butt, something for my pinky to nestle into even if when not chopping.

ExMasonite - For sure it's nice to have different points of contact just to let you know the knife is there and doing what you want.

SM - EXACTLY!!! I want people to be able to swap out scales and or have a milled out section in the handle for some fishing line and matches or something. Always playing around pissing off elitist

Harlan,

I see custom knives with overground tips from the same makers all the time and I doubt that you would automatically demonstrate by a group photo that it was intentional. Making it obvious some other way might do it. Explaining it can also help.

Over grinding the tip is just a common problem a lot of folks that have trouble grinding have. Having a tip that looks like that problem is the reason it's there will get commented on.

Don't let it deter you though. You may want to find some way to dress it differently to change the appearance to avoid having to explain "No. I meant to do that.".
