Surplus Springfields/Enfields

With all the great military surplus foriegn rifles available at truly fire sale prices, why aren't there more `03 Springfields and Enfields available now? I've seen a few at shops and shows, but the prices made my eyes bleed. What did I miss? :confused:

What did you miss? The 1950's and 1960's, I think.
Cream of the crop (as it was seen then) I think got picked over looooooooong ago.

Thirty years from now they'll be saying the same thing about SKS's and MN's

I've seen a few at shops and shows, but the prices made my eyes bleed. What did I miss? This is why collectors get upset about sporterizing milsurp guns.
There was a day when Springfields and Enfields were plentyful, like the Yugo SKS is today. However, many purchased them cheap as beaters and wore them out, or sporterized them into hunting rifles. Now there are few and they are expensive. We can't undo what has been done, and they will never again make any more.
