You are 100% correct. Why Bush keeps Mineta around is a total mystery. Mineta was inept when Clintoon was in office, he is just as inept now.

Talking about this at work today. We are of the opinion that Bush is really clueless on details of security and especially clueless on any firearms issue. He just mouths RKBA cliches and is really an elitist anti at heart. He support CHLs because he had to.

Second, the bureaucracy in Washington is antigun. They figure GWB will be out in 2004 and then they can trash the program.
