Truth in advertising in a pawn shop

I was just in a pawn shop down the street from my apartment, looking at their selection of guns, and was totally stunned for a second. I saw something I never thought I'd see. They had a Raven .25 in the counter, priced at $40. The amazing thing is what was written on the tag "JAMS". I never thought I'd live to see the day when a pawn shop would tell the truth about a cheap POS pistol they had for sale. I was utterly astounded.

They also had some good deals, like a Desert Eagle .50AE for only $799, which is about $150 less than I usually see used ones sold for. Also, they had a Remington 870 Express, 28" ribbed barrel, in good condition, marked $199.

Well, just thought I'd share the news that not all pawn brokers are bad. Some will give people fair warning about what they have for sale.

I'ts nice to read stories like this because pawnbrokers have a seriously bad reputation most of the time.

My pawn broker is good. I buy all my guns from them that aren't C&R.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they would put a "jams" note on a gun
but they would give money back or store credit if it did.

I actually stopped into a pawn shop today since so many around here seem to find good bargains. first off the guns aren't even displayed, so the gruff heavily gold clad fellow at the counter offers me a stack of index cards stating what they had to sell.

a davis 2 shot derringer: $225

jennings .22 $250

HiPower 9mm (not a browning, the ghetto brand) - $450

I had to hold down my laughter deep inside and thanked the fellow kindly for his time, and was on my way.

????ing ridiculous.

Hey, Frank, what finish is the Raven? Does it have 'pimp gun' possibility like your Lorcin? If so, I may bite next week when I get paid. :D

Darrin,

I was half afraid you'd ask. It has a stainless finish with 'pearl' grips. Definite 'pimpticality' potential.

Good to hear that you found and honest dealer and some relatively good prices. Hopefully I'll find one of those some day!

Right now I'm still trying to get a new Alamo pawn shop in my area to understand the concept of a private transfer/sale from another state. He just couldn't understand or refused to understand.

He doesn't even understand the concept of buying directly from a manufacturer/distributor. All he knows is that he has his FFL on file with a supplier and they send him guns.

It's mine on Monday! How late are they open? Can you PM me details of where, name of shop, etc...?

Oh, yes, I will have the pimp gun. The fact that it jams makes it even better! :D

Gun is on consignment for John A. Miller, Sr.

On a more serious note, if he knows it jams and sells it to the unwary, and they are harmed, he may be liable. If he notifies the buyer of the defect, and they buy it anyway, he is off the hook.

I'm forewarding this to the National Pawn Brokers Association.I re-read the by-laws and this is in violation of
Sec.254 Para.5 subSec 2145.0201.Quote"Cheap Guns,Used or Not,operational or not, first and formost must be at least 2.35%above MSRP.Chrome and colored plastic handels must increase value by 33%."

This kind of activity must be delt with swiftly and without mercy.
There's allways one member of the groupe that screws it up for everybody.
The NPBA will get this straightened out post haste!!
