I'm in the market for a new SA shotgun for duck/goose hunting so would appreciate some comments on a good gun for the money. Somewhere around the $350 range. Thanks in advance.

In your price range, in a new gun, there's only one choice - the Baikal MP153. It's a very good shotgun indeed: less well finished than, say, a Remington or Winchester, but very reliable and strongly built. Details are here (http://www.eaacorp.com/firearms/longguns/semiauto/mp153d.shtml), and you're bound to find a dealer near you.

I've owned one of these, and although I sold it because I've gone back to the 870 for most of my shotgun shooting, and don't need to shoot the big 3½" shells, I enjoyed it while I had it.

Of course, if you're open to buying a used shotgun, there are good used Mossberg 9200's or Winchester Super X1's available with 3" chamber for anything between $300 and $400, if you look around.

The Baikals look good...they come with three chokes, 3-1/2" chamber, and shoot all shorter shell lengths, and I think they have a chromed barrel. I've seen them at GA gunshows NIB for $299. The Baikals are made in Russia.

Also check out the Charles Daly shotguns...they also look good, come in chambers up to 3-1/2", come with three chokes, and I just looked at one in WalMart for $300. These are made in Turkey.
