paradox998 August 29, 2008, 04:01 PM I am lookng for a safe that comes in panels or pieces that can be assembled for use and then disassembled if you need to move it. If the assembly hardware was internal, it would be fairly secure. Does anyone knows if such an animal exists? Thanks

gunseller2 August 29, 2008, 04:46 PM Zanottiarmor as mentioned above and Dakota Safes.
a1abdj August 29, 2008, 07:06 PM There are a few others as well. I prefer the Zanotti, as it's a US made product. I'm pretty sure all of the others are imported (Chinese).

a1abdj August 30, 2008, 01:46 AM I should add that I assumed you were looking for a gun safe that is modular.
There are other modular "real safes" on the market. If you're looking for one of those, I can point you in that direction as well.
krs August 30, 2008, 03:32 PM What do you mean in saying "real safe", Frank?
Does it mean "high security safes", or the ones called "Home and Office safes" that are built so as to be modular, or available as owner assembled 'kits' which result in safes?
Are modular safes only as strong as the fasteners that hold them together? There are bolts, and then there are bolts...

As long as we're talking about safes again...

Got any big good used safes you'd love to get rid of, Frank? Need the space more than the bucks? Is it a good time to grab a steal of a deal from you, Frank? Huh? Huh? :)

A UL listed burglary safe, specifically designed and insurable for the storage of valuables. Something similar to what you would find in a jewelry store or a bank.
Modular gun safes are a "new idea", but modular vaults have been around for quite some time. As with standard safes, modular units are available in a variety of levels of protection.

Yes. In a gun safe, the bolts are going to be far stronger than the panels themselves.
In a real safe, they have undergone the same testing as a normal safe. The bolts are going to be very strong, allowing the safe to pass all
of the pressure tests.

That link isn't bad. Somebody put a lot of effort into assembling all of the information. I don't agree with 100% of the content, but for the most part, I think it's a good source of information.

Steel prices keep going up. I'm sitting on a gold mine here.

Yeah, as an investment old safes are probably a better bet than having money in a bank, especially if you fill them with gold bullion.
