It's the "speech bubble" to the immediate right of the "picture" button.

Optional:
If you add a "=" and a name like this:
[QUOTE=XDGirl] it'll put the quote text in italics with a citation thingy as above.

It's not a big deal, but if you ever want to test something out, better to do it in the testing forum than in the general forums. Again, not a big deal, but it is kind of an etiquette thing.

"...I can only learn one new thing a day..." Hi. Here's your lesson for today. Lumpy, middle aged, guys are fun to have around. Especially when they like to cook for blonds.
"I can only learn one new thing a day." That was right clicked, highlighted, copied, pasted and the "..." added on either end. I find it faster and more accurate.
XDGirl, it's not a big hairy deal. Nobody is going to worry about how you post anything. Your insight is far more important.
Is a medium rare top sirloin, off the BBQ, a baked potato, tossed salad with oil and vinegar and a dry Bordeaux red ok? I can marinate some chicken or game hen if you'd rather. snicker.

Do you mean in the "Reply to Thread" dialog, or in the body of the thread itself? What I see for any given post is just the online / offline status light and a button to report the thread. I'm okay with editing replies manually, but it'd be nice if there were a way to automate the process a bit. Some of the fora in which I participate have a button in each posting that allows you to quote and reply with a single click -- you still have to edit the quote down, but it's a quicker start than what I do here: copying the text to which I want to reply, opening a reply in a separate tab, wrapping QUOTE= and /QUOTE tags around it, then writing my response.

I believe I've seen what you're talking about - I think VBB offers that functionality but I don't know what version or what other "gotchas" are involved - it puts a "quote" button at the bottom right of each post, right? Haven't seen it here - might want to start a thread in "tech support" - I'd be embarrassed if it was in 'user cp'.

But, even without that option, just highlight and control-C (copy) the text you wish to quote, cruise on down to 'quick reply' (or open up a reply window), hit the "speech bubble" and control-V to paste the text in. Not all that different once you get used to it and, truth be known, that other forum goes "quote happy" in a manner that drives me nutzoid on occasion.

Trying the manual quote source ID out ...

Also, while I do miss the quick-quote button, I don't miss the annoying habit some posters have of quoting & reposting the same large image repeatedly. I do have broadband, but I like to read on autoscroll, and big pictures break up the flow.
At least this setup minimizes clutter.
