I'm thinking about getting this knife for possible EDC or woods carry. Is it worthwhile, or not? It would just be general purpose or SD if neccessary.

Any opinions or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Looks great, http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=KA5550

Looks very stout..............good steel.......not made in China

I like it. What kind of things will you be doing with it outside?

Shaving bark off sticks, cutting small branches, not too much that I wouldn't use a hatchet for. It'd be handier carrying that instead of a hatchet around if I didn't think I needed it, but ended up needing a stout, sharp instrument.

I handled them at Blade. They seemed fine. AUS 8 is an ok lower end steel.

You'd get better performance out of one of the Spydercos with better steel, for the money.

It should be fine for that kind of work, I wouldn't worry about the steel (AUS 8 Japanese steel), I have three AUS 8 steel knives that are doing fantastic. Spyderco knives are great too.

I love folders. If you want it, buy it, then take pics and post them here. My bank account's getting chubby anyway, I need a good reason to take it down a peg :)

In terms of hatchet work, if you can't carry a hatchet, try a short machete.

Unless you have specific reasons for a folder, a Fixed blade will serve you better in the woods.
