Is this easy to do on your own? How do I go about doing this?

I don't believe most US berettas come with the plug. If you are getting 2+1 you don't have a plug in it. 3 is all you get.

There is a plug installed-------see if I can remember this correctly---been awhile since I've had mine out of the safe and apart.
There is a little spring loaded locking mechanism near the end of the mag tube(sort of a pin hole looking thing---like you could stick a ball-point pen in ther to depress it)--you need to depress that while turning the stainless dowel looking piece with a slotted screwdriver--notice the slot on the end of it??
Its under spring pressure---so watch out when you are about to get it completely unscrewed----then remove the plug---and reverse the steps to reinstall everything. PITA
Leaving mine in because doves need a plugged shotgun----finally got around to getting my licence tonight.

You can't hunt doves with a 3+1 shotgun?

Migratory birds can only be shot with shot gun that holds no more than 3 shells---in this state at least.
