I have aquired a Bushmaster Carbon 15 in .223 I will most likely be shooting small animals and targets out to 300 yards and not much closer to 75 yards. I can afford anything in the $400-$600 range. I'm thinking something like the Nikon BDC monarch or a trijicon soemthing or rather. What have you guys put on your AR's that would work for my application?
Thank you,
Mike

A good scope is the HORUS vision Hawk. 3-12x50 with a very, very good retical. i think leupold has a 3-9x40 for $450 MK II
trijicon's accupoint scopes are good, but if you are varment hunting, the big post gets in the way. they are (or have already) coming out with a mil dot version that should be better. and they are too expensive. $800+
for accupoints, $1000 plus for an acog. at least were i live.

congrats for the new ar, my first just came in a week ago. i am getting the Hawk for it.

Burris, Nikon, Leupold, Pentax or Redfield in that price range. Trijicon ACOG is $800+.

Finding the right rings/mount is important. I pulled my Burris 4.5-14x42 Fullfield II off my bolt rifle and set on my DPMS Panther 20 and just had to adjust my turrets. But I really should have pushed forward the scope a bit in the rings. I am using the Burris quick release. They are either mediums or high.

Larue Tactical has a good name in ring mounts. Also Badger Ordnance, but they are $$$.
