A question about Hogue.

I've only had Hogues on a revolver once. They're fine for my semiautos, but on the revolver there was some "slop" and I couldn't tighten them up.
But I'm wondering if anyone else has that problem and what you did.

I've got three S&W revolvers with Hogue grips
the 686P grips - first set just didn't fit, Stan took them
back and tested em, he said they blew up in his test rig
the next set were very tight - still went loose first trip
to the range but I tightened them and no problem since t
then. THe other two a 625 and 617 great fit, no problem.

Rubber or wood Hogues?
I often see some interferance with the alignment roll pin S&W uses dragging on the inside of new wood grips.
Sometimes, the pin is slightly off-center in the guns frame. Just tap it over until it centers and everything should fit. I have on occasion found a long pin and had to grind off just a tad for slot clearance.
The first time or two you put new wood grips on can take a swift kick in the butt with a rubber mallet to seat everything.
After that, they should come off & go on just fine.
I have never ever had a problem with rubber Hogues fitting.

My ruger GP100's came with Hogue monogrips on them, and there is absolutely no slop in the fit at all. They also come on and off smoothly and easily.
I also really like them for comfort and grip, especially on these hot, sweaty summer days (I never shoot indoors).

I've used them on each of my 2 revolvers and I have no problem with either. They fit nicely, have no slop or wiggle, and no space between the grip and frame.
