Hello Folks-

A sad story to report, as a co-worker had the finish ruined on his blued
Les Baer Stinger by an automatic bathroom deodorizer while the weapon
was removed from its holster, as he used the bathroom. Every spot that
the spray touched, rust formed within minutes~! This was even after
the weapon had been wiped clean by its owner. :(

Don't use aerosol airfreshener near compact disks, either. Wicked stuff. Murderously corrosive.

Les Baer Stingers benefit from having the shine knocked off.

I didn't seriously start wanting one until this:

Asthma inhalers will play merry hob with a finish, too.

:barf: I won't have any of that kind of stuff in my home, period. Think about it, if it does that to metal, do you really want to breath the stuff?

I've heard these kinds of things will kill a pet bird.

REmember the story of the coal miners taking canaries into the coal mines?

Look what Kool-Ade does to a pretty blue finish, yet it is safe to drink.

Vinegar is the same way. If you are eating pickled anything, keep the juice off of your nice blue finish.

I don't inhale either kool-aid or vinegar :) Lungs are a very different organ then your stomach/intestine.

P.S. i don't drink kool-aid either, for that matter. Lost the taste for that sugary crap way back in my yout'.

I thought only Glock owners drank the Kool Aid...

Hey Guys
ok..... I can't hold it in any longer.. AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH !!!! I got airfreshener on me...:what:
Kidding aside, I wont keep the stuff near my guns ( don't happen to have any in the bathroom ) , and yes it is very harmful and could kill your pet bird. We have 4 parrots and don't use aerosols or smoke around them.

Every time I take a gun to my local smith to be blued I soak it in vinegar for about 30 mins. before hand. It takes every bit of the bluing off.

You take the same gun to be blued over and over? You must really like your local smith a lot...

Either that, or he likes to get his gun really, really deep cleaned.

Sorry to hear about the finish, but here's the silver lining:

At least it smells nice, right?

Which is why I don't remove my gun to use the bathroom. Ever.

Really??
The reason you don't remove your gun in the bathroom is air freshener?

You don't remove your gun in the bathroom because the whole wide world knows you're vulnerable in there. But do it if you must.

Those of us with some control of ourselves don't actually need to use the bathroom. Ever.:D

Well done, KCshooter. Well done. Why thank you sir. (It was a horrible pun, I'm glad I'm not the only one who giggled a little at it, even if it was my own lame joke.)

You should see what mine's been through...rivers, creeks, mud, dirt, sand, hay, rain, snow...and I agree, they look better shiny.

My 10,000+ round "beater"...carried 24/7/365...and shot weekly.
