Does anyone know the total of CCWs issued in North Carolina and either the % or actual # of revocations? I checked www.packing.org but I didn`t find anything. This is for a discussion with a N.C. resident.
TIA

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I can`t access PDF (webtv) so I`m wondering why there`s such a descrepency between applications and issuance. Only 879 were denied. What happened to the rest? Did they change their minds? I don`t think it`ll be relevant but I am curious.

Quoted from the official statistics page:
"The number of permits issued, denied, and revoked do not equal the number of applications due to applications being processed."

That's a lot of unproccessed applications!
Took me less than 30 days from start to finish to get mine. 28 days to be exact.

Took me about the same time. My wife took almost 2 months and we submitted our applications the same day.

Given the fact that it's a shall issue state, with a 90 day limit, it is hard to reconcile the huge difference between the number of applications and the number of permits and denials. This could happen, if there was some sudden, and very dramatic, surge in the number of applications. My guess is that they are counting applications for renewal as a second application, but not counting renewed permits as a second permit. Since the permits are good for 4 years, and the law has been in effect for more than 4 years but less than 8, a number of permits will have been renewed once. None should have been renewed twice.

Not the first head scratcher I've seen come out of NC government.

Um! In my brother in-laws home county of Durham,
the following observations were made:
Applications: 1565
Approved: 773*
Denied: 39
Revoked: 5
*FootNote: What happened to the one's that were not
approved, or denied? Quite obviously, 5 citizens
had a previous license; but had it revoked? Question
#2: Is North Carolina's process just that slow?
Best Wishes,
